The Black Country Heroes Future Stars category recognises extraordinary young people aged 21 or under who have demonstrated significant progress and growth in the past year. The program acknowledges their potential and celebrates their contributions to the Black Country. By highlighting these inspiring individuals, it encourages others to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact on their communities.

Professional Boxer – Alex Round

Varlowe is happy to announce that we have sponsored up and coming boxer Alex Round.

Alex is a middleweight professional boxer who has been training since the age of 11. He has won 10 out of his 11 amateur fights and has recently defeated Kearon Thomas in his first professional fight.

Hailing from Wednesfield, Alex is trained by local legend Richie Carter, who runs Wolverhampton Amature Boxing Club. 

Richie has been in the boxing world for years. Last year, he contacted us to tell us about the plans for the boxing club. Along with ourselves, several local businesses pulled together to help Richie’s dream come to life.

The club is now thriving, and we are thrilled that they can take advantage of the new boxing space. You can read more about the new ring here. Richie has also put together a video of the new club here.

Wolverhampton Amateur Boxing Club

Wolves Boxing Club (Wolverhampton Amateur Boxing Club) was looking for some new sponsorships to help fund a new boxing ring.

Richie Carter, who runs Wolves Boxing Club, reached out to us asking if we could help reach their goal of financing a third ring.

Richie has many years of experience in the boxing world. He was a pro middleweight boxer who had won many titles and represented his country during his career. After returning to the sport 20 years later to run his own boxing club, he joined forces with Wolves Boxing Club.

Wolverhampton Amateur Boxing Club has been operating since 1936. It has been the staple boxing club in the city ever since. They offer everyone from the age of 8 to be a part of the club. As well as the likes of Richie Carter at the helm, they have a team of experienced staff ready to help develop the next Anthony Joshua.

The New Boxing Ring

Varlowe Industrial Services supplied the new 16ft Unibox Boxing ring which they was looking for. As part of the sponsorship deal, the ring was branded in our corporate colours and logos. Our managing director, Steve Varden, said, “It’s fantastic what these guys and the club do for the community. It takes me back to my early years. So we gifted them the complete ring.”

Like many facilities, Covid 19 has forced the club to shut its doors, so it’s been a perfect opportunity to get a new ring installed ready for when restrictions lift.

We hope the new boxing ring offers everything Ritchie has in mind to take the club to the next level. We are looking forward to what these guys can produce with the extra ring space.

Cannonrun’s Porsche Gt3 Wrap

In 2018, The Cannonrun brought a new Porsche Gt3 sports car. The car has become the luxury driving holidays Pace Car. It is leading every road trip that passes through some of the most iconic and populated cities.

As part of our headline sponsorship, a “Varlowe” branded wrap was put onto the car, which looked amazing. 

With our continued support of the Cannonrun, Jay Cannon wanted to surprise us with a new, fresh design. 

After a week under wraps, Jay brought the car down to our head office for the grand unveiling. I think you will agree it looks fantastic!

David Fry’s Rally For Heroes

A very close friend of Varlowe Industrial Services is partaking in this years Rally For Heroes.

Rally For Heroes is a driving event aimed to raise money for amazing charities around the UK.

This year, they are raising money for the outstanding SSAFA.

David Fry and his Bee Cool Performance Bentley Continental Gt will drive through 10 countries that have been affected by war, in just 10 days, before returning back to the UK.

“So this is our first time entering in the Rally For Heroes, and we hope to be able to raise a total of £3000 for the SSAFA representing a pound for every mile we have complete during the Challenge.”

SSAFA is the oldest Armed Forces charity which was started in 1885 to offer support to the diverse changes its personnel and veterans have to face.

The work they do for our servicemen and their families is second to none, providing practical, emotional and financial support.

“Whenever our Forces need them, SSAFA will do whatever they can to help. They’ve been doing that since 1885, through two World Wars and through every conflict since. But SSAFA can only do that with the help of people who support them. Every 5 miles driven represents the life of a serviceman or woman who has fallen in combat since the start of the Afghanistan conflict. This is especially important for SSAFA, as they provide specialist support to hundreds of bereaved and injured service families affected by recent conflicts, including Afghanistan.”
